The Belgian Balloon Club ASBL was created in 1979 by a handful of hot air balloon enthusiasts. The Belgium Balloon Club celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019. We have 15 hot air balloons. We also have a mini remote controlled hot air balloon. We inflate the latter during certain gatherings.

The non-profit organisation aims to promote ballooning. Our head office is located in Namur. But we fly everywhere in Belgium.

Feedback

When you leave a comment on our website, the data entered in the comment form, as well as your IP address and the user agent of your browser, are collected to help us detect unwanted comments.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also known as a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using the Gravatar service. The privacy policy of the Gravatar service is available here. After validating your comment, your profile picture will be publicly visible next to your comment. You are the one who manages your profile through the Gravatar service.

Media

If you upload images to the website, we advise you to avoid uploading images that contain GPS coordinate data. Visitors to your website could download and extract location data from these images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you will be offered to save your name, email address and website in cookies. This is only for your convenience so that you don’t have to enter this information if you leave another comment later. These cookies expire after one year.

If you have an account and log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be created to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It does not contain any personal data and will be deleted automatically when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will set a number of cookies to save your login information and screen preferences. The lifespan of a login cookie is two days, that of a screen option cookie is one year. If you tick « Remember me », your login cookie will be stored for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookie will be deleted.

When you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie does not include any personal data. It simply shows the ID of the item you just edited. It expires after a day.

Fly with us

If you fly with us, you will be asked for some private information in order to ensure the safety of your flight.

How long your data is stored

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows you to automatically recognize and approve subsequent comments instead of leaving them in the moderation queue.

If you take a flight on board one of our balloons, the data provided in the context of this will be kept for a period of 3 months. Your billing data is kept for a period of 10 years.

The rights you have over your data

If you have flown with us or left comments on the site, you can request to receive a file containing all the personal data we have about you, including the data you have provided to us. You can also request the deletion of personal data about you. This does not take into account data stored for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Disclosure of your personal data

Visitor comments are checked using an automated spam detection service.

Marketing automation operations

The data you enter in our forms will require your approval before using it in our marketing emails. If you still want to unsubscribe from these emails, you have a link in each of them.

Statistics

If you accept cookies on our website, we use your data anonymously for statistical purposes.

Transmission of information for remuneration

Under no circumstances is the Belgian balloon club allowed to resell your data or to authorise the use of your data for its own commercial purposes.

Subcontracting

As part of the outsourcing of your flight, we will notify you by e-mail. The data specific to your flight will be transmitted to our subcontractor. It will always be possible for you not to accept subcontracting.

« STEM at altitude »

The « STEM at Altitude » project by Belgian Balloon Club is a project aimed at schools in the Wallonia-Brussels community in Belgium. As a project of the Belgian balloon club, it meets the same requirements as these privacy policies.

Newsletter

If you agree to be kept informed as part of the « STEM at Altitude » project, the time between two newsletters will not be less than 15 days.
