About 7 to 8 years ago, some members expressed interest in exploring the discipline of gas balloons (« Charlière ») within the Club.

In 2020, the Club was able to acquire its first gas tank with a net, with a volume of 780 m³, thus allowing it to develop its experience in this field.

In 2024, the Club was asked by the organisers, shortly before the Gordon Bennett race in Munster, to register its out-of-competition ball (Fiesta). On this flight, our pilots flew more than 700 km in 21 hours, landing near Bourges, south of Paris.

This performance qualified our team for the Gordon Bennett 2025, where they will represent Belgium alongside two other crews.

For the occasion, the crew will fly with a balloon rented from the French Federation of Aerostations, with a volume adapted to the competition: 1,000 m³ of hydrogen.

The gas used will be green hydrogen, made from renewable energy, reducing the environmental impact of the race.
